- ➤ Families and community groups gathered at Riverfront Park on Saturday for the fourth annual RIVERZILLA Community Day and Park Cleanup along the Schuylkill River. The event offered a morning riverbank cleanup, free kayaking demos, trail bike loans, watershed education, crafts, food, and games for all ages — a day to care for Reading’s natural resources. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon in Wernersville when a westbound car left its lane and hit someone on the 100 block of West Penn Avenue at 1:06 p.m.—the victim suffered major injuries but is now stable at a local hospital while investigators work with state and local police. - ➤ Route 61 in Leesport is closed due to an accident that occurred Saturday, August 9 at about 1:45 a.m. on the 200 block of North Centre Avenue—utility poles and wires fell, and traffic is being detoured via Belleman’s Church Road and Route 73. Reading Eagle

- ➤ Candlelight returns to Berks County on Oct. 25 at St John's Lutheran Church, 4125 Penn Ave in Sinking Spring, where audiences will enjoy Candlelight: The Best of Hans Zimmer at 6 p.m. and a Halloween program starting at 8:30 p.m.—featuring classical pieces and film scores—designed to bring a unique multisensory live music experience to local fans.
