  • The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance shared five achievements from 2025 including a $2 million manufacturing loan, a third award for its marketing team, record membership, and a larger Women2Women conference. GRCA will launch new 2026 efforts — a Workforce Housing Taskforce and transport upgrades — to boost local business.  Reading Eagle

  • Reading is preparing for a festive New Year’s Eve — with events including a James Bond-themed symphony concert at Santander Performing Arts Center, a Moon Over New York City Gala at DoubleTree, a noon museum balloon drop, a Royals’ Pajama Party game, and 9:30 p.m. fireworks from Mount Penn.  WFMZ-TV

  • Residents saw an 8.9% increase in utility rates on Dec. 1 as Met Ed raised prices amid delays in renewable energy projects. Advocates say PJM (the grid-managing agency) must speed project approvals to help lower future costs and boost clean energy supply.  Reading Eagle

  • Mountain West Food Group LLC recalled 2,855 lbs of ‘Forward Farms Grass-Fed Ground Beef’ made on Dec. 16 after routine tests detected E. coli O26; the raw beef sold in Pennsylvania and five other states, with a use-or-freeze-by date of Jan. 13, should be discarded.  Reading Eagle
