COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Volunteers and the Reading Royals collected around 400 coats for the Knights Closet program through the Reading School District. The coat drive started Sunday at 1 p.m. outside Santander Arena to help people stay warm this winter. WFMZ-TV
- ➤ On Saturday, Dec. 13, more than 100 locals gathered at Gethsemane Cemetery in Muhlenberg Township to honor veterans with the Wreaths Across America ceremony. Volunteers placed wreaths on about 1,300 graves — many pausing busy holiday plans to show their respect. Reading Eagle
- ➤ Operation Holiday, now in its 35th year, is set to distribute grocery and retail gift cards to 199 families with 403 children referred by 21 local agencies in Berks, Chester and Montgomery counties this holiday season + it is funded solely by reader contributions. Reading Eagle

- ➤ The TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce announced Tyler Arkatin and S. Joseph McDevitt joining its board to strengthen local business networking. Barley Snyder partner Kevin C. - ➤ On Dec. 14, Berks County recorded many real estate transactions, with some deeds showing no sale price because no money was exchanged + the records are public and may have publication delays from the recorder's office. Reading Eagle

- ➤ In a non-league boys basketball game on Saturday, Wilson defeated Pottsville 56-44 as Correll Akings scored 16 points and hit two 3-pointers in the first quarter to give the team a 15-1 run (team record 3-2). Reading Eagle
