- ➤ Residents at The Heritage of Green Hills in Cumru Township give back through volunteer groups, fundraisers like Casino Night, and art projects to support neighbors and maintain a benefit fund that helps residents in financial need. Reading Eagle
- ➤ On Monday, United Way of Berks County buried a time capsule at Gring’s Mill Recreation Area in Spring Township as it nears its 100th anniversary. The capsule was placed at the base of a white oak tree (donated by New Castle Lawn and Landscape) with messages from staff and volunteers. Reading Eagle
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Fire crews from Berks and Lancaster counties battled a three-alarm blaze late Monday at a former furniture store on Route 625 in Brecknock Township. The teams brought the fire under control after nearly six hours of operations—no injuries were reported. Reading Eagle
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Alvernia University’s Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling Program was honored with the PCA Outstanding Counselor Education Program Award for 2025 at a conference in Bethlehem. The recognition came after nominations from students+alumni who praised the program’s commitment to ethical training. Alvernia University
- ➤ At Penn State Berks’ Innovation Awards Ceremony in November, student innovators and community entrepreneurs received IMAGINE Your Business grants funded by the County of Berks Imagine Berks fund + winners included teams addressing food waste and entrepreneurial projects. - ➤ School officials recommended replacing Riverside Elementary as a feasibility study shows over $60M in upgrade costs relative to building a new facility. The district will soon seek architect proposals for a new school on the corner of Amity and Front, aiming to keep students in the current building during construction. Reading Eagle
- ➤ At the Berks County Agricultural Center recently, the 4-H Dairy Club honored its 2025 members with awards for skills in showmanship, dairy judging and leadership. - ➤ Reading’s eviction diversion program has seen legal aid and rental assistance drop as funding and volunteer support dwindled, leaving fewer tenants defended in court. New countywide initiatives that offer rental assistance and mediation will launch Dec. 15 (if eligible) to help prevent future evictions. WFMZ-TV

- ➤ On Monday night, Schuylkill Valley beat Wyomissing 39-23 with Hannah West scoring 16 points while Reading High won 57-41 over Lebanon and Manheim Central edged Twin Valley 56-48 (Madelyn Gehman led with 13 points). Reading Eagle
- ➤ Berks Catholic beat Wilson 38-28 Monday night at Wolf Gym in a BCIAA Division I game. Kingston McKoy (14 points and 10 rebounds) led the Saints to their first home win of the season. Reading Eagle
- ➤ On Monday night, Dom Arguelles scored 20 as Wyomissing edged Schuylkill Valley 56-48 in boys basketball; Nelson Malave led Muhlenberg to a 77-51 win over Gov. Mifflin while Luke Boyle and Dylan Scott helped Daniel Boone secure a 46-43 victory over Conrad Weiser. Reading Eagle
