COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Just Between Friends Winter Sale is running now at Berkshire Mall in Wyomissing as local families seek deals on toys, strollers and holiday items. The sale will continue through Sunday—offering extra savings—according to organizers.  WFMZ-TV
  • Reading officials said downtown road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect Saturday for the Holiday Parade, which will start at 10 a.m. on Penn Street and end at Second Street with free parking available from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. — families can also meet Santa from 1 to 3 p.m. at the 5th and Penn Bank Building to enjoy festive activities.  Reading Eagle
  • CHOR Youth & Family Services will host Christmas on the Farm at the Jim Dietrich Park Farmhouse in Muhlenberg Township on Saturday, November 29 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.—the free event features Santa visits, holiday crafts, a petting zoo, sweet treats and warm beverages to honor and support foster and adoptive families.  Berks Weekly

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 8th annual Reading Blues Fest will begin tomorrow at the DoubleTree Hotel after crews finished setting up the stage this afternoon — with an opening show at Peanut Bar at 11:30 a.m. and Devon Allman scheduled to perform in the evening.  WFMZ-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cressona’s two fire companies are exploring a merger to combine resources—fire chief Dennis Snyder said the change would boost service while respecting each group’s traditions. The companies plan to meet soon to work out details and address cost savings while preserving volunteer support.  Reading Eagle

HEALTH NEWS

  • ByHeart, a baby formula company linked to a botulism outbreak, stopped production at its Berks County plant in 2023 after the FDA found significant safety violations—mold and thousands of dead bugs were discovered. The company began upgrading the facility to improve production safety as it cooperated with regulators.  Berks Weekly

SPORTS NEWS

  • The unbeaten Twin Valley Raiders, with a 12 to 0 record after a 45 to 14 win over West York, will face top-seeded Susquehanna Township Indians today at 7 p.m. at ELCO High School — it is the school’s first district championship appearance and the team hopes its strong running game will secure a win.  Reading Eagle
  • Reading United AC promoted Rich Kessler to head coach of its USL2 men's team after he served as an assistant and goalkeeper coach since 2021, replacing Casey Moore who became Sporting Director. Kessler—a local graduate from Reading High School and Alvernia—will lead the team as the season schedule is set for March.  Berks Weekly
