- ➤ Helping Harvest prepared 14,386 Thanksgiving heat-and-eat-ready meals mainly for seniors in Berks and Schuylkill after a month of work at its new 7,000-square-foot community kitchen at GoggleWorks II on Washington St.- Volunteers also packed 4,752 Thanksgiving boxes and readied whole turkeys and turkey breasts to help families facing food insecurity. - ➤ Hamburg Area High School will stage the 'Mary Poppins' musical later this month—presented by Hamburg Area School District and Hamburg Hawks Performing Arts—with performances on Friday, November 21 at 7 p.m., Saturday, November 22 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, November 23 at 2 p.m. The production features classic songs and student-led staging, and tickets cost $10 at the school auditorium. - ➤ Lincoln University and Alvernia University signed an agreement today to broaden graduate education and hands-on learning by offering fully funded assistantships and reserved seats in advanced programs. - ➤ Today, Reading’s Pagoda underwent a successful test of its new exterior lighting system and will remain lit as renovations continue under Mayor Eddie Morán’s direction. - ➤ Berks County Rep. Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz introduced House Bill 634—known as Alyssa’s Law—on Monday at a committee hearing in Harrisburg to support installing panic buttons in classrooms for faster emergency response.
