  • On November 13, local veterans and school leaders raised a POW-MIA flag at Fleetwood Area High School to honor service members still missing. All district buildings now fly both the POW-MIA flag and the U.S. flag—upholding the promise to remember those who sacrificed for our freedom.  Reading Eagle
  • On Saturday, Nov. 15, the Berks Coalition to End Homelessness held a Solidarity Walk at the Reading Public Museum Arboretum to highlight the challenges faced by homeless youth in Berks County.   • On Sunday, the Kutztown Police Department collected food donations from local residents by filling police cruisers as part of a challenge—helping fund community services.  WFMZ-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Berks County food inspectors found several food safety violations including bare-handed handling of ready-to-eat items—such as sausage and toast—and service of food past its seven-day use date during inspections from Oct. 29 to Nov. 11; some vendors corrected issues immediately while others remain under review.  Reading Eagle
