  • Today, LIVA is holding a donation drive at the airport’s departures level to collect non-perishable food, paper products, toiletries, and baby supplies for federal workers affected by the shutdown — a High Wind Watch is in effect from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning in parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania where strong gusts could knock down trees and power lines.  WFMZ-TV
  • On Sunday, November 16, Kutztown Borough Police will host the Fill the Cruiser Challenge at Weis Markets and Giant to collect nonperishable food donations for Friend Inc.   • FastBridge Fiber, a Berks County fiber internet provider, is being acquired by Greenlight Networks and the transaction is expected to close in mid-2026 pending regulatory approvals—this acquisition will boost high-speed internet to local areas including Reading.  Reading Eagle
  • A Pennsylvania Lottery retailer in Berks County sold a winning Powerball ticket for the November 1 drawing that matched five white balls to win $1 million. GIANT Food Stores, 4655 Perkiomen Avenue in Exeter Township — will receive a $5,000 bonus while prize claims are validated.  Berks Weekly

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Conrad Weiser Theatre Company will show its first Readers Theatre play 'Class Action' on November 14th, 15th and 16th at Conrad Weiser High School LGI, where teen experiences are brought to life with a script-in-hand style.   • Alvernia University named Angelo J. Valletta (chief executive officer of Ben Franklin Technology Partners) as its executive-in-residence for the 2025 to 2026 school year at the School of Business. He will meet with students, hold a chat, and visit classes to share nearly 40 years of work in finance and technology.  Reading Eagle
  • BCIU relaunched the Career Ready Berks Platform to connect schools with local businesses offering job shadowing, internships, tours, and guest speaking engagements. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A High Wind Watch is in effect in parts of Pennsylvania including Berks County from today 7:00 p.m. through Thursday morning — northwest winds are forecast to reach 50 to 60 mph, which could down trees and power lines and make travel difficult. Residents should monitor local updates and secure loose outdoor items.  WFMZ-TV
  • A high wind watch is in effect from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning in several counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey—areas including Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, and Upper Bucks may see gusts up to 60 mph that could down trees and power lines.  WFMZ-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Reading’s revitalization zone was set with a $3.55M tax base — far less than Erie’s $32M — which local officials say may give small businesses a chance to grow as they plan to apply for project assistance in November. City officials expect that increased filings will boost eligible tax revenue to support future redevelopment projects.  Berks Weekly
