  • Residents, family members, and staff gathered at Heritage of Green Hills in Cumru Township for a Walk to End Alzheimer’s — a grand finale to a month-long fundraiser that featured raffles, refreshments, and vendor booths.  Reading Eagle
  • The Camel Project will host 'Power in Unity: Accountability to Our Community' at GoggleWorks Theater in downtown Reading on November 15 at 9:00 AM—attendees will network with coffee and bagels before hearing updates from groups like Bethany Children’s Home and Green Building Alliance, a tribute to local youth lost to violence, and a community Q&A.  Berks Weekly
  • The Heritage of Green Hills hosted its 12th annual Casino Night where residents, families and friends played games such as Texas hold ’em, blackjack, roulette and craps to raise money for the Heritage Resident Benefit Fund—assisting seniors facing unexpected hardships. The event featured slot machines, raffles, hors d'oeuvres and drinks that kept guests busy throughout the night.  Reading Eagle
  • Organizers launched a donation drive to collect nonperishable food for local residents amid concerns that SNAP benefits may run out next month. The drive will accept items at the Wyomissing Public Library starting the day after Halloween and distribute them on November 14—efforts shared by groups including The Real Deal 610 and the Hispanic Center.  WFMZ-TV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Penske Logistics inducted its 2024 and 2025 Driver Wall of Fame classes at its Reading headquarters to honor drivers for 20 years of safe driving. The ceremony added the new inductees to a total of 85 honorees and recognized the company’s top-performing truck drivers.  WFMZ-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Reading Theater Project has announced its new season with the play Proud by Judd Lear Silverman, which will open Friday, November 7th, 7:30 p.m. at the WCR Center for the Arts — located at 140 N. 5th Street in Reading; tickets are available online or by calling 484-706-9719 as the production uses a Pay What You Will model to make theater accessible.  Berks Weekly

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Alvernia University Theatre will present Hamlet featuring senior theatre major Aliyah Daniels in the title role and directed by Nathan Thomas at Francis Hall Theatre from Nov. 6 to 8 and Nov. 13 to 15 at 8 p.m.—a matinee is scheduled for Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. with general admission at $5 and a pre-show information session on Nov. 13 for prospective theatre students.  Berks Weekly
  • Reading Area Community College has withdrawn its expansion plans for the student union building after floodplain regulations and cost challenges made the wet proof design unfeasible. College President Susan D. Looney said the project may be revisited with alternative design options in the future.  WFMZ-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • PennDOT and Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors have closed the right lane on I-78 westbound for the Lenhartsville Bridge Replacement Project, with closures that began Tuesday, October 29 at 9 p.m. and will end November 6 at 6 a.m.—motorists are advised to follow detour signs via PA 143 and alternate ramps for their route.  Berks Weekly

  • Boyertown native Trey Yesavage started for the Blue Jays in Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday at 8 p.m.—the rookie, who became the second-youngest pitcher in Series history after holding the Dodgers to two runs in Game 1, aimed to move his team one win closer to their first championship in 32 years.  WFMZ-TV
