- ➤ The IM ABLE Foundation announced its 2nd Annual IM ABLE Games, including a 2-mile fun run, Sprint Duathlon, Kaaginator Fitness Challenge, and Hot Wing Hustle, scheduled for Saturday, September 20 at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading — the event is open to all abilities. - ➤ Today, about 500 volunteers are leaving their day jobs to join United Way of Berks County for the annual Day of Caring in Reading, where they are weeding, washing buses, and cleaning vehicles at local sites. - ➤ The Muhlenberg Township Parks & Recreation Department is hosting its long-standing Temple Halloween Parade on October 4 at 6 p.m. (rain date October 5 at 4 p.m.) as the route starts on Sharp Avenue, moves to Kutztown Road, then north to Mount Laurel Avenue, and ends at 7th Avenue where local bands, car groups, fire trucks, floats, and food vendors will feature with judges awarding parade design prizes. - ➤ Last night, the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance gave awards to 22 winners at GoggleWorks to honor building projects that boosted the local economy and created jobs—these projects involved $186 million in investments and 2,600 jobs. - ➤ Kutztown University’s Teacher Leadership Academy is expanding this fall to include Antietam School District along with its current Schuylkill Valley partnership, with 48 teachers from Schuylkill Valley and 24 teachers from Antietam set to participate.
