COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Robesonia Borough hosted a car, motorcycle and tractor show on Sunday that helped raise funds for its Playground Replacement Project. Attendees enjoyed live music, food trucks, craft vendors—and truck tours for kids.  WFMZ-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Police in Caernarvon Township investigated a theft on Aug. 14 at Walmart at 100 Crossing Blvd., where five suspects stole cell phones and left recovered scooters valued at $750—authorities suspect the same group is linked to a similar incident at the Colebrookdale Township store.  Reading Eagle
  • The Berks County sheriff’s department is searching for John Shehan (62) and Jennifer Wilson (41) for failing to meet registration requirements and for fraud and theft charges, urging anyone with information to call 610-478-6390.  Reading Eagle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • PennDOT will work on several road projects Tuesday-Friday with closures, detours and pothole patching on Centennial Road in Longswamp Township, Route 183 in Bern Township, Church Hill Road in Richmond Township, the Interstate 78 ramp at Exit 40 in Krumsville and a shoulder restriction at the Route 422 westbound ramp at Penn Street—projects scheduled from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.—and will conduct overnight work on Route 422 in both directions from Buttonwood to Bingaman in Reading from Sept. 8 to 11 with work from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.  Reading Eagle
