  • Berks Encore hosted its first Roper Romp on Saturday in West Reading to benefit Meals on Wheels Berks County as part of its 60th anniversary celebration—participants in red wigs and sunglasses marched downtown.   • A food festival opened Friday night in Muhlenberg Township and runs through the weekend—featuring classic Italian dishes like homemade lasagna and deep-fried ascolana olives along with games and lively music.   • Local artist Jim Forrestel opens his solo exhibition After the Storm at Holleran Gallery in West Lawn today and it will run through Aug. 26— his large-scale, vividly colored paintings blend surreal imagery with quiet introspection to create dreamlike scenes.  Reading Eagle

  • Hawk Mountain restored a 20-acre wildflower meadow near its Acopian Center for Conservation Learning along Route 895—this vibrant site now supports nesting songbirds, raptors, butterflies, and native bees while also protecting water quality. The project began in 2019 and shows how land conservation helps local wildlife.  Reading Eagle
