- ➤ Volunteers from Mission Trip Birdsboro worked Wednesday through Saturday to complete 50 free home repair and indoor aid projects for residents in eastern Berks—152 participants helped improve safety and accessibility at homes and schools. - ➤ People in Leesport tossed bean bags to support the 125th anniversary celebrations at Union Fire Company, where the tournament had a fun bracket, a competitive bracket, and a Sportsman raffle with 37 winners — half won $125 and the rest received prizes from Hafer's Hunting Supply. James Berger of the volunteer fire company said it costs about 10,000 dollars to suit up one firefighter, and they will hold a bingo fundraiser in September. WFMZ-TV

- ➤ Law enforcement arrested Sandrew Gonzalez, a 29-year-old Muhlenberg Township resident, on July 18 after a two-month investigation into drug sales and seized narcotics, paraphernalia, and a firearm from his home—he now faces multiple felony charges including drug trafficking and firearms violations.
