  • The Fleetwood Community Carnival offers rides, games, and food, and proceeds will benefit various local organizations—organizers say the funds will support community groups. The event aims to bring residents together for a fun day while helping those in need.  WFMZ-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • A Reading man—Jaqwone M. Augustus, 28—turned himself in Tuesday night on charges of simple assault and abuse of a care-dependent person after injuring a 27-year-old resident in an Exeter Township group home last December, causing a head laceration that required staples at Reading Hospital.  Reading Eagle
  • A Reading man with a suspended license led a high-speed chase on Route 12 that ended when he crashed his Honda into an SUV on River Road in Muhlenberg Township—officers arrested him on charges of fleeing, reckless driving, and driving while his license was suspended.  Reading Eagle

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Reading Theater Project will host 2025 In Nature’s Studio at the Reading Public Museum Arboretum on Sunday, July 27th from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.—the outdoor walk features micro performances inspired by the Toytopia exhibit and is free to attend thanks to local grant support.  Berks Weekly

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bachman’s Roofing replaced the roofs on Albright College dugouts at Kelchner Field and the softball field free of charge—a project valued at about $15,000 that will be finished before the fall athletic season.  Reading Eagle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Reading City Council deferred a proposal by Council President Donna Reed to ban events on city-owned construction sites such as the Pagoda—aimed at protecting public and contractor safety after reported trespassing incidents. Some council members and local residents argued the measure unfairly targeted community groups and would add restrictions on public access during construction.  Reading Eagle
