- ➤ Berks Summer Fest will take place Saturday at FirstEnergy Stadium and is free; it is presented by Berks Arts in partnership with the Reading Fightin Phils and will offer a day of kids' activities plus four concerts featuring R&B, reggae and rock and roll acts. - ➤ On July 5, a building at 501 N. 8th Street partially collapsed in Reading, displacing 10 residents and closing part of the street as firefighters and utility crews shut off gas and electric at 3:21 p.m. City officials plan to bring in a demolition contractor over the weekend to remove the unstable structure (no injuries were reported). - ➤ Reading police investigated the fatal shooting of Melvyn Frazier on June 22 at about 5 a.m. on Oak Lane while Amity Township police looked for a suspect—a Black male with tattoos, a heavy build, and a black beard—linked to a gas station robbery at 1028 Ben Franklin Highway early Friday at about 1:20 a.m., with Crime Alert offering rewards up to $10,000 for tips leading to an arrest.
