CRIME NEWS

  • The Berks County sheriff’s office is seeking 18-year-old Isaiah Perez (last seen on West Douglass Street) wanted on strangulation charges after he attacked a woman on June 1 in Reading, and 24-year-old Sylvion Desameau (last seen driving in Reading) wanted for aggravated assault and fleeing police after a chase on June 7.  Reading Eagle
  • A person was shot in the knee at a barbershop in Muhlenberg Twp today — police continue to investigate the incident.  WFMZ-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • GoggleWorks held its first-ever PrintFest—where locals learned to use a giant steamroller and tried interactive printmaking activities—providing a hands-on art experience that showcased creative techniques in a community setting.  WFMZ-TV
  • The annual Berks County Celtic Festival was held Saturday, June 28 at the Reading Liederkranz in Lower Alsace Township and featured music, dancing, food, and drink as a fundraiser organized by the Berks County Irish-American Fraternal Association—highlighting contests and Irish dancing for all ages.  Reading Eagle

  • Dave Mattes Team awarded a $500 scholarship to high school senior Julia Trickett—a Wilson graduate planning to attend college or technical school—as part of its effort to support local students. This funding marks an ongoing commitment to education in the community.  Reading Eagle

  • At the Good Medicine Indigenous Wellness Celebration held on June 28th at Riverfront Park, Rain Black shared Choctaw recipes to promote wellness and show how personal health connects to environmental care.
