- ➤ The Borough of Wyomissing will host its Annual Independence Day Parade & Celebration on July 4 with fireworks on July 3 at 10:15 p.m.—the festivities include a fun run at 9:30 a.m., a parade featuring local bands and heroes such as Navy veteran Betty O’Connell, and family activities at the Stone House. - ➤ Pino and Laura Pugliano opened Ciccio’s Olives on South Fifth Avenue in West Reading—selling extra virgin olive oil from Pino’s family farm and Italian gifts. - ➤ A Birdsboro-area man in a pickup truck was arrested after a vehicle chase through his backyard when Reading troopers conducted a welfare check in Union Township—officials said he drove recklessly before being stopped. Reading Eagle
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lori Lilley — known as the Turtle Lady — has been working to save local turtles at Crystal Lake in Exeter Township by teaming with AARK Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center as the lake is restored. She rescued 34 turtles so far and warned that the survivors will not be able to return until next spring. WFMZ-TV

- ➤ Peter Simone from Simone Collins Landscape Architecture introduced the Vision Zero Action Plan—an affordable package of low-cost improvements—to a City Council committee meeting that aims to add bike lanes, multimodal trails and pedestrian enhancements to downtown.
