United Way of Berks County’s annual Big Cheese event was held Friday and Saturday at Penn State Berks, where over 1,000 volunteers packed 500,000 meals to help families facing food insecurity.

The meals will be distributed by Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank — some will also go to the Reading School District to support students in need.

Kami Kiritsis, owner of Aqua Om Paddle, said the 'Love Your Lake' event will be held at Blue Marsh Lake on June 27th in Berks County.

The event will feature kayak and paddleboard races, educational tables and a sunset paddle — all proceeds will benefit the Pennsylvania Lake Management Society.

At Zion Baptist Church, the choir will team with the Reading Pops Symphony Orchestra for a worship service today at 10:30 a.m., featuring guest performers Dr. Christopher Rohrbach + Cindy Rohrbach and renditions of Total Praise by Richard Smallwood and the traditional Ride on King Jesus.

Philadelphia Ave in Boyertown will host an opening weekend of 'The Three Bears' activities from June 27 to 29 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Bear Fever community art project. The event will start on June 27 with a free reception from 5 to 7 p.m. — it will also feature a booklet release, a Bear Fever Facebook page announcement, a ticketed StoryTime for children on June 28, and a writers’ reception on June 29.

June is Cataract Awareness Month and SightMD Pennsylvania (located at 1300 Broadcasting Road, Spring Township) is urging residents to get an eye exam if they notice blurry or foggy vision, as early treatment can prevent further vision loss.

Public records show many real estate transactions recorded today in Berks County, with deed transfers in various townships—some deeds list no price as no money was exchanged.

The filings, which come from the recorder of deeds office, are a matter of public record and reflect a filing delay.
