- ➤ Police say Carlos Flores, 28, stole a firearm during a traffic stop at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and then led a 24-mile chase on Route 422—reaching speeds up to 120 mph while nearly hitting several vehicles—before state police stopped him and found the illegal gun in his car. WFMZ-TV

- ➤ Homer Anthony, a Reading High School graduate killed in World War II, is honored through his diary that Muhlenberg Township's Dennis Damiani edited and annotated. Damiani said the diary shows Anthony's intelligence and patriotism—he presented his findings at the Berks History Center and the book is available for sale. Reading Eagle
- ➤ Five concerts are set for this week — Alejandro Fernandez performs today at 8 p.m. at Santander Arena in Reading, Aimee Mann with Jonathan Coulton, Michael Martin Murphey, and the George Crotty Trio perform Saturday in King of Prussia, Sellersville, and Kennett Square respectively. - ➤ Reading native Hayden Cline overcame homelessness and tough times and will graduate from Milton Hershey School on Sunday—he plans to study psychology and later law to give back to his community after interning at Hershey Entertainment and Resorts and leading his school’s honor society. WFMZ-TV
- ➤ The Muhlenberg School District Board approved its final 2025-26 budget after a Wednesday night meeting, raising property taxes by 4.77% from 36.656 mills to 38.406 mills and cutting six teaching positions, two social workers, a behavior specialist, and a psychologist. The district also reduced summer wages for teachers from $70 to $50 per hour—leading some staff to leave as they work to balance the $92,223,808 budget with full state funding and further discussions on mental health services. - ➤ A Tilden Township resident, Sharon Dietrich, urged state officials to adopt chip-enabled EBT cards that cannot be skimmed to secure SNAP benefits for vulnerable families.
