- ➤ Two Berks nonprofits—Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Berks and Habitat for Humanity of Berks County—are teaming up to help working families buy and keep homes by offering financial education and one-on-one budgeting counseling. Officials said the program targets essential workers and those earning between 60% and 120% of the area median income to make homeownership more sustainable. Reading Eagle
- ➤ A series of local events is set from June 11 to Sept 14, starting with a Juneteenth program at Wyomissing Public Library on June 11 at 6 p.m. and Muhlenberg Township’s Spring Fiesta at Jim Dietrich Park on June 14 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. featuring music, taco fests, rides and fireworks—other events include a Magical History Tour in Bern Township, Music on the Mountain at Albany Township on June 14 at 2 p.m., a Flag Day ceremony at Lerch Tavern in Wernersville, a pottery festival and flea market on June 21, and a breast cancer fundraiser at Gring’s Mill Recreation Area on Sept 14. - ➤ The Pennsylvania Game Commission warns drivers to slow down and leave young wildlife undisturbed along roads and trails—interfering with animals may lead to fines of up to $1,500 per animal and risk human health. The commission also announced new migratory game bird seasons with lower bag limits for Atlantic Canada geese, a flat limit for northern pintail, and bass season will open June 14. Reading Eagle

- ➤ The annual Pagoda Hillclimb will take place June 21 and 22 at Mount Penn, where drivers from several states will race on a course 1.35 miles long on Duryea Drive — near the Pagoda.
