  • On a rainy Saturday in Berks the charity motorcycle group Steel Hammerz surprised 5-year-old Izabella—who has autism—by parading her and giving her a pink motorcycle with gear, showing their support through charity work.  WFMZ-TV
  • The Amity Township Lions Club held its Night at the Races event at Oley Fairgrounds where over 200 local residents enjoyed food, fun and fellowship — funds raised will support local community projects.  Reading Eagle

CULTURE NEWS

  • The annual World War II Weekend ended today after three days of reenactments and vintage aircraft displays at the Reading Regional Airport. The event featured a vehicles parade in the rain on June 7 and included staged battles and interactions with World War II veteran Bud Gahs — drawing large crowds to celebrate history.  Reading Eagle
  • At World War II Weekend at Reading Regional Airport, reenactments and vendors present historically accurate helmets, patches, and authentic uniforms that copy original designs. Vendors like Keith Bunger and veteran Nicholas Diaz craft each piece with care — a method that preserves history and teaches visitors about the past.  WFMZ-TV
  • Placid Lassie, a 1943 C-47 that flew during D-Day—towing a glider and carrying paratroopers, is on full display today at Reading Regional Airport in Bern Township during World War II Weekend. Co-pilot Robert Sabbatino said the plane, now owned by the Tunison Foundation, inspires future pilots by sharing its storied history.  WFMZ-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On June 3, Oley Valley High School held its commencement in the school stadium where 122 graduates received their diplomas. Student speakers stressed strong community bonds — a foundation that will help the graduates meet future challenges in college, work or other paths.  Reading Eagle
  • Exeter Township School District awarded diplomas to 314 graduates during the commencement at Santander Arena in Reading on June 5—Senior Class President Rachelle Toaldo encouraged the graduates to embrace every new opportunity while class speaker Perla Alvarado-Rueda stressed that education empowers those who overcome hardship.  Reading Eagle
