Today, WWII weekend begins in Berks County with a historic air show featuring a cobalt blue P-51 C Mustang known as 'the Thunderbird'—the plane once owned by bomber pilot and Academy Award winner Jimmy Stewart that also carried footage of Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953.

The restored aircraft is on display through the weekend and will perform in the air show.

Reading will host a series of Juneteenth events from June 10 through June 19 that will honor freedom and celebrate cultural unity—film screenings on June 10 and 11, a youth introduction on June 12, a flag raising and kickoff reception on June 13, a community barbecue on June 14, a closing celebration on June 15, and free museum admission on June 19.
