- ➤ A Reading man, 44, died when he became trapped in an industrial paper shredder at Vital Records Control in Muhlenberg Township on Wednesday at about 3:45 p.m.—police said OSHA began investigating the incident. Reading Eagle

- ➤ Today the 34th annual WWII Weekend begins at the Mid Atlantic Air Museum in Berks County and will feature over 70 historic aircraft with live entertainment—Gates open at 8:30 a.m. each day as the event serves as the museum’s main fundraiser. WFMZ-TV

- ➤ Three Southern Junior High/Middle School alumni—District Judge Sandy Eshelman Fegley, Bart L. Ganster, and Kirk Sanocki—were inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame on May 30 in the gym, and the alumni association held its biennial reunion the next day at the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton to mark the school’s 100th anniversary. - ➤ The Berks County Commissioners voted Thursday morning on annual contracts for workforce training that awarded $249,997 to Berks Latino Workforce Development Corp and $250,000 to Connections Work—its apprenticeship program helps people reenter society. They also approved a site investigation at Stonecliffe Park that may limit public access later and promoted two county employees effective June 6 and June 23. WFMZ-TV
