COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Wyomissing held a Memorial Day parade and Remembrance Ceremony on May 24th to honor veterans — groups like Scouts, military units, and community organizations marched through Wyomissing Hills with Marine veteran Chris Kaag as grand marshal. A Remembrance Ceremony took place at the War Memorial in Wyomissing Hills Memorial Park.  Reading Eagle

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Hawk Mountain Arts Tour is scheduled for June 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with over 40 artists and businesses spread across Kempton Valley — including a satellite stop at Etchberger Memorial Park hosted by the Hamburg Area Arts Alliance — offering a free self-guided driving tour with printed maps available at the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Visitor Center.  Reading Eagle

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Saturday at the Hershey Racquet Club, Daniel Boone’s Chase Gerloff won all four of his matches without losing a set as he led his team to a state title — Conrad Weiser’s seniors Armaan Malik and Jio Garcia came back from an early deficit to win the 2A doubles championship and earn gold medals at the PIAA Tennis Championships.  Reading Eagle
  • On Saturday, Kutztown beat Trinity 3-1 in the District 3 Class 3A softball semifinals when Jade Fitzgerald hit a two-run single, and the Cougars (22-3) will face Susquenita for the district title at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Millersville University. In District 3 Class 5A, Twin Valley won 3-2 (in nine innings) on Friday and will meet Solanco at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, while in Class 6A Wilson beat South Western 3-2 and Chambersburg will play Central Dauphin.  Reading Eagle
