- ➤ The Peppermint Stick in Boyertown is holding its 10th annual Candy for Our Troops event that started on May 21 and will run through May 25—honoring three local active military members with candy-filled care packages and handwritten support cards from the community. The care packages will be sent to Navy member Laura Adams, Marine Corps Cpl. Gabriel Gilbert, and Sgt. Anthony Romano. Reading Eagle
- ➤ Berks County will host a series of fairs and festivals from May through October. The events include Adamstown Community Days from May 29 to 31 at Adamstown Community Park, the Jollyview Jam Festival on June 7 at Prout’s Jollyview Farm, and West Reading Art on the Avenue on June 21 along Penn Avenue, with other gatherings like Gov. - ➤ Berks County detectives say a 30 year old inmate, Tyler Osborne from Boyertown, used a tablet borrowed from another inmate to make video calls with an 11 year old girl in which he asked her to expose herself and perform sexual acts and now faces charges of child sex abuse, possession of child pornography and corruption of minors + bail is set at $175,000 while he remains in custody at Berks County Jail. - ➤ Matthew Stitzel defeated incumbent John Fielding in the GOP primary for Berks County coroner on May 21st. Reading Eagle
- ➤ Eric Taylor and Kathryn Lehman will compete for the open seat on the Berks County Court bench in the upcoming general election—after winning the primary on May 21. They will face local voters for the judicial seat in the final contest. Reading Eagle
