CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Reading man—25-year-old Brandon McCurdy—was arrested Tuesday after he broke into Central Middle School on North 12th Street on Friday night by climbing through a second-floor window and stealing two cellphones and a pair of scissors. Reading Eagle
- ➤ Today, U.S. Attorney David Metcalf unsealed an indictment charging four businessmen & two companies with running a call center near Reading that used bait-and-switch tactics to sell discount health plans as full insurance, leaving tens of thousands of consumers without proper coverage. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Reading began demolition of 431 and 433 Penn Street yesterday after engineers found the buildings unsafe. Crews saved the top portion of 431’s facade while 433 will be completely torn down and nearby streets including Madison Avenue in the 000 block are closed for safety. Berks Weekly
