CRIME NEWS

  • A 31-year-old Reading man fled state police on a moped near the Pagoda on Skyline Drive at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday and led troopers on a foot chase during which he was subdued with a stun gun — he now faces charges for fleeing, a suspended license, an outstanding warrant and an uninsured moped with an improper registration plate.  WFMZ-TV
  • A 31-year-old Reading man was arrested on May 7 after officers pursued him from Skyline Drive near the Pagoda into the city where he fled on foot and was subdued with a taser; he admitted to operating an uninsured moped with improper registration while his license was suspended and an outstanding warrant existed.  Berks Weekly
  • On May 7, 2025 at 1:35 p.m., local law enforcement raided two illicit massage parlors in Berks during a human trafficking investigation—officers said the action led to their immediate closure.  Reading Eagle

  • Gov. Mifflin Intermediate School students participated in their third annual Color Run fundraiser on May 2 to raise money for school initiatives—organized by the Parent Teacher Organization.  Reading Eagle
  • Twin Valley School District superintendent Robert Scoboria explained how a middle school science class sent a video to astronaut Sunita Williams — earning autographed photos and sparking creative projects.
