ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Phyllis Lauck, the third member of a Robeson Township family, died at 1 a.m. in Reading Hospital from injuries sustained in a two-alarm predawn home fire on April 28—she had been on life support after the loss of her husband and son and investigators have isolated the rear exterior of the house as the fire's point of origin. - ➤ Robeson Township police said a fatal house fire on April 28 took 74-year-old Phyllis L. Lauck's life—she became the third victim after three residents were rescued and taken to a local hospital while investigators continue to look into the cause. WFMZ-TV
- ➤ A Saturday evening fire in a mixed-use building on South 9th Street displaced eight people and sent two to the hospital — one firefighter among them — after heavy flames caused a wall to collapse, with the blaze reported at 5:16 p.m. on May 3rd. Berks Weekly

- ➤ Authorities in Berks County have increased DUI enforcement efforts for prom and graduation season as the North Central Regional DUI Enforcement Program said sobriety checkpoints, roving DUI patrols and Cops in Shops operations have been in place since May 2 and will continue until June 22—this move aims to deter impaired driving and underage drinking. - ➤ Graduates from Berks Career & Technology Center and Reading Muhlenberg CTC were honored at the Decision Day celebration on May 1 at the Miller Center for the Arts. They were recognized for choosing college, military service, or work—bringing families and community leaders together to celebrate their bright futures. Berks Weekly
- ➤ German exchange students from Reutlingen visited City Hall on May 1 to learn about Reading’s government and history from city leaders during a lunch reception and round table discussion. They will use Reading as a base for two weeks to make day trips and build ties as part of a program that began in 2002 — a sister city partnership. Reading Eagle

- ➤ On May 3, motorcycle riders took part in the fourth annual Undy 500 at Classic Harley-Davidson in Bern Township—raising awareness for colorectal cancer screening.
