CULTURE NEWS

  • Reading Public Museum celebrated its 100th anniversary on Thursday with a time capsule dedication that held an iPhone and local magazines — and the event continued with the planting of a moon tree that spent four weeks in space aboard Artemis I. The celebration honored the museum's start in 1925 and its role in offering art, science, and conservation experiences to more than 6,000 local students.  WFMZ-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Voters in Muhlenberg will choose four school board members from five candidates cross-filed for both parties in a May 20 primary election. Each race pits one incumbent against four challengers + all elected members will serve four-year terms.  Reading Eagle
  • Berks Catholic is hosting a National Signing Day event for 18 student-athletes today at the school. Carmine Lenzi (wrestling) will sign with Division I West Virginia University while other athletes commit to various colleges.  Reading Eagle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Voters must register by May 5 to vote in the primary election on May 20, where party nominees will be chosen for state appellate courts, local judicial positions, school boards and other offices. They can register online, by mail or in person and request a mail ballot until May 16 — ballots must arrive by 8 p.m. on election day.  Reading Eagle
