- ➤ Exeter senior Gavin Wanner built a new accessible fishing pier at Blue Marsh Lake in Bern Township as an Eagle Scout project; a ribbon cutting was held Friday and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers honored his 700 hours of work (and over $35,000 raised). WFMZ-TV
- ➤ Applications for the 2026 Schuylkill Highlands Mini-Grant Program are open until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14 to fund conservation, recreation, and community projects in the Schuylkill Highlands area — municipal and nonprofit groups must secure a 25% match and contact the Program Manager before applying, with decisions on June 30. - ➤ Penn State Berks faculty partnered with Wyomissing High School for the Presidential AI Challenge (a three-year NSF-funded project) to boost critical thinking through AI innovations. - ➤ Hundreds of Berks high school students will earn up to 12 college credits through dual-credit programs supported by 21 million dollars in state funding. Kutztown University and Reading Area Community College received millions to expand pathways for students, with 97 participants starting classes in the 2026 to 2027 school year. Berks Weekly
