- ➤ Humane Pennsylvania will host its 48th Annual Walk for the Animals on May 3 at the Berks County Fairgrounds in Leesport. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.—participants will enjoy a one-mile walk, live music, food, vendors, games, and dog contests while supporting local animals. Reading Eagle

- ➤ The Berks County Sheriff's Office is searching for 21-year-old Anissah Moral of Reading who is accused of stealing $5,100 from a patient by cashing ten checks as a home health aide—she also faces a warrant for theft after taking $580 from a cash register at Walmart. WFMZ-TV

- ➤ Berks County commissioners said 16,000 mail in ballots will be sent to voters on April 22 as testing on ballot marking devices is finalized this week, and voters must submit applications by 5 p.m. on May 13 with ballots accepted by 8 p.m. on May 20. The county also announced HR promotions, a two year contract with Betterview Counseling and Trauma Recovery for youth mental health services estimated at $62,500, and that its 911 call center handled 1,300 storm related calls in two hours after strong winds caused damage. - ➤ Yesterday, the Berks County Election Board approved seven temporary polling place changes for the upcoming primary that affect voters in multiple municipalities. The changes shift polling sites in St. Lawrence, Cumru Township (three precincts), Bernville, Reading’s 14th Ward, and South Heidelberg Township to new community venues (a municipal building, a church, or a YMCA). - ➤ At Reading Hospital, hospital workers and organ recipients raised a Donate Life flag—displayed outside the Fifth Avenue entrance—as part of National Donate Life Month’s effort to promote organ and tissue donation.
