- ➤ A community bulletin board lists local events including a vigil at City Hall today at 6 p.m. and a senior fraud prevention event at Crossroads Family Restaurant today from 10 a.m. to noon. - ➤ United Way of Berks County marked its 100th anniversary by planting a tree at Gring’s Mill in Spring Township to honor longtime volunteer Irv Evans—who spent over 20 years promoting the organization. - ➤ The Pennsylvania Game Commission released deer harvest estimates showing the statewide total reached about 476,880 deer — up 11% from last season — with a marked rise in antlerless numbers. Local hunters in WMU 5C and 5D reported 7,700 and 2,300 antlered deer plus 17,000 and 7,700 antlerless deer respectively — a change reflecting ongoing efforts to manage deer populations in areas affected by Chronic Wasting Disease.
