  • The Missionary Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus hosted their 16th annual Nun Run 5K yesterday at Holy Guardian Angels Regional School and Gethsemane Cemetery in Reading, where hundreds of women ran in the rain to raise funds for global efforts to share the love of Christ.  WFMZ-TV
  • Local businesses will compete in a 90-second ’90s-themed dance contest on May 2 at Stokesay Castle in Lower Alsace Township—doors open at 5 p.m. to raise funds for the Yocum Institute for Arts Education.  Reading Eagle
  • John Ernesto retired as the Berks Jazz Fest director last year but still attends the event as a fan and friend — he said his 35 years of work built strong ties among local groups. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • PennDOT announced that daytime lane restrictions will apply Monday through Friday this week for Route 422 eastbound between the Penn and Lancaster Avenue exits in Reading — drivers should expect delays.  Reading Eagle

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Today, the Berks County recorder of deeds processed real estate transactions where some filings did not list a sale price (no money was exchanged) and are available as public records. The records include all property deeds filed at the county's office.  Reading Eagle
  • Reading officials are teaming up with a nonprofit developer to redevelop the Santander Bank building at 450 Penn St—its 25-year lease expires at the end of the year and the bank will not renew because of reduced space needs.  Reading Eagle
