  • On April 9, the second Annual Berks County Luminary Awards brought together local leaders — workforce advocates and bankers — to highlight workforce development and homeownership in Reading. Keynote speaker Joe Theismann and honorees were recognized, and more than $10 million in investments was announced to support first-time buyers.  Berks Weekly

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Family, friends, and first responders gathered at Fleetwood High School on Saturday to honor Chief Buck and Assistant Chief Shick after they died in a fatal car accident during a missing persons search; the community remembered the two lifelong firefighters as dedicated and steadfast in service.  WFMZ-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Visitors at the Kempton Community Center enjoyed a living history event on Saturday with reenactors, train rides and live music celebrating the nation's 250th anniversary. The Allemaengel 250 Committee, made up of local historical societies, hosted the free event to bring the community together.  Reading Eagle
  • The 4th No Planet B Jamboree is set to honor Earth Day through live music and community sustainability initiatives. Having earned Certified Festival status from Musicians for Sustainability, the event will showcase local talent and bring community members together in Reading.  WFMZ-TV
