- ➤ Funeral services for firefighters Buck and Shick will be held at Fleetwood High School with joint viewings Friday from 5 — 9 and funerals Saturday at 11 — doors open at 9:15 as the community honors their service. Reading Eagle
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Students from RIZE (a local youth arts organization) are working on Roots of Solidarity to raise $50,000 for film production and a student trip to Puerto Rico to capture local Latino elders’ stories. Production will resume this spring with plans to complete the film in December and screen it in January. Berks Weekly
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ PA CareerLink will host a spring job fair on April 28 in Reading where more than 60 local employers plan to meet job candidates. WFMZ-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Peter Suppa, a building trades instructor at Reading Muhlenberg Career and Technology Center, was honored with the Annie Sullivan Award on Wednesday night by the Berks County Intermediate Unit for building a program that helps students with disabilities gain essential construction skills and confidence. - ➤ Kutztown University will install Dr. Philip Cavalier as its 13th president tomorrow with his inauguration ceremony at Schaeffer Auditorium at 2 p.m. The new leader, after a career on Wall Street and in academia, aims to strengthen local ties and expand business-focused programs. Reading Eagle
- ➤ Wyomissing Area School District is supporting students with Spartan Station (providing food, toiletries, and supplies) alongside a drive-through food bank event to ease family hardships. - ➤ Finanta Credit Union opened its first branch in downtown Reading today at the former DeCarlo's Bar on Penn Street. State lawmakers and city leaders attended the ribbon cutting as the institution begins offering bilingual services and financial education to local families. WFMZ-TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Reading Hospital is raising awareness about organ donation during National Donate Life Month by flying a Donate Life flag outside its West Reading building. The hospital said it will use the month to share ways to help the more than 100,000 patients waiting for transplants. WFMZ-TV

- ➤ Five Berks athletes have earned invitations to compete at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia from April 23 to April 25 — including shot put, javelin, and pole vault events with participants from Wilson, Wyomissing, Exeter, and Oley Valley. Reading Eagle
