- ➤ The Reading Police Department investigated a fatal shooting near the intersection of Schuylkill Avenue and West Buttonwood Street late Saturday night on April 5 when officers responded around 11:45 p.m. and found 22-year-old Christopher Green inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his back — he was taken to Reading Hospital and later died while police said there is no current threat to the public and urged anyone with information to come forward. - ➤ Sinking Spring man Santiago J. Torres, 41, surrendered to authorities yesterday and now faces felony charges that include theft by deception, identity theft and forgery, and unlawful use of an access device for an alleged embezzlement scheme which defrauded 11 victims of roughly $750,000—investigators say about $468,000 remains owed.
