CRIME NEWS

  • A man from Kenhorst fired more than 12 rounds into his girlfriend’s car as she fled a domestic incident Thursday morning—investigators continue their manhunt for the attempted homicide suspect.  Reading Eagle
  • Troopers reported that on March 30 an unidentified man and woman broke into three work vans at Lumina Solar on Gravel Pike in Hereford Township and stole 34 spools of communications wire + cordless power drills and batteries worth about $10,000.  Reading Eagle
  • A Reading man, Patrick Bogay Clark (28), was arrested on drug trafficking charges after a search on April 4th at his home on Muhlenberg Street seized a kilo of cocaine, digital scales, and other drug-related items.  Berks Weekly

CULTURE NEWS

  • Penn State Berks will host its Meadow Moonlit Ball on April 13 at the Janssen Conference Center from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. to honor Campus Pride Month with music, appetizers, non-alcoholic drinks, games, and dancing (students with a Penn State Berks ID enter for free and the event is open to anyone aged 17 and older with donations requested).  WFMZ-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Thursday, Alvernia University’s College of Business, Communication, and Leadership hosted its third annual conference at the John R. Post Center at Reading CollegeTowne—where more than 30 local and regional speakers discussed fast-changing technology—with keynote speaker Joe DiPaolo explaining how AI can help workers. Over 200 people attended and learned key ideas in leadership and innovation to get ready for future challenges.  Alvernia University
  • A Gov. Mifflin teacher won the 2025 Annie Sullivan Award (given by the Berks County Intermediate Unit) for helping students with disabilities.  Reading Eagle
  • On Monday at 6 p.m., the RMF Project Penske Jazz Jam will be held in the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading’s small ballroom where music students and top professionals share the stage to play jazz. The event features saxophonists Albert Rivera and Eric Marienthal, bassists Luques Curtis and Gerald Veasley, and pianist Zaccai Curtis (a Grammy-winner) as part of a program that has taught kids since 2006.  Reading Eagle
