ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The eastbound lanes of Route 422 in Exeter Township are closed for an extended period — Berks County emergency officials said the closure follows a dump truck flip between the Interstate 176 and Mount Penn exits.  Reading Eagle
  • A fire gutted a Centre Township home overnight—firefighters rescued a dog from the rear second-floor porch just before 3 a.m. on Tuesday.  Reading Eagle

CRIME NEWS

  • Two Reading natives (30-year-old Edgar Holguin-Reyes and 27-year-old Yakayra Reyes) were arrested on Tuesday when Bergen County officials seized about 14,000 fentanyl pills with intent to distribute during a traffic stop on I-287 in Mahwah, NJ; they now face charges and will appear in court in Hackensack.  WFMZ-TV
  • On Monday, April 1, investigators said four people were shot in three separate incidents in Reading — including a City Park event involving two young adults.  Reading Eagle

  • The Reading Public Museum will mark 100 years since its cornerstone was laid on May 1 at 3 p.m. by dedicating a new time capsule and honoring a NASA Moon Tree (located at 500 Museum Road). The free event will recreate the 1925 ceremony (with museum staff and community members) to celebrate the museum's centennial.  Berks Weekly
