- ➤ Helping Harvest Community Kitchen in the GoggleWorks II at 229 Washington St. has served over 100,000 meals since its April opening — a milestone driven by volunteers packaging meals for residents facing food insecurity. - ➤ The Penn State Berks Freyberger Gallery is showing Malaysian WWII Oral Histories: A Digital/Virtual Art Exhibition that opened Friday, Mar. 27 with a reception from 12-2 p.m. and will run through May 1, offering free interactive VR displays and artifacts that share personal WWII stories. - ➤ A new AARP report finds that 2.2 million family caregivers in Pennsylvania provide 2.1 billion hours of unpaid care each year, a contribution valued at $40 billion, while the PA Department of Aging has launched PA CareKit to help support these essential workers. WFMZ-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ PennDOT has delayed lane restrictions on Route 222 due to rain, with closures now set from 8 p.m. March 30 to 6 a.m. March 31. Officials say mobile work will alternate lane closures from Mohler Church Road to Col. Howard Boulevard at the Denver and Pennsylvania Turnpike Exit as part of a $7.66 million pavement project.
