ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A tabletop butane grill exploded under a small tent at Folino Estate Winery in Greenwich Township Saturday — seriously injuring the chef and two guests.  Reading Eagle
  • A small ceremony was held in West Reading Monday to mark two years since the R.M. Palmer explosion that killed seven and hurt ten from a retired gas line leak, and Pastor Bruce Osterhout said the community needs a permanent memorial while Ela Perez of Mecca Caribbean and Soul Food Restaurant noted people are moving forward as a final NTSB report is expected later this year.  WFMZ-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Reading Police are asking the public for help locating two missing 14-year-olds — Aliyah Martinez, 4’7”, last seen in the 1400 block of Luzerne Street, and Jariel Cabrera, 5’8”, seen in the 1400 block of Church Street — who are believed to be traveling together and have been missing for several days.  WFMZ-TV
  • On Saturday, March 22, a Birdsboro man, Adam Speckhart, was arrested after setting a fire in his home's attic during a domestic dispute and assaulting several officers (he faces charges including arson, assaulting officers, and risking a catastrophe) and he is now held at Berks County Jail on $100,000 bail.  WFMZ-TV

  • Reading officials said demolition of the old Reading Newspaper building at 431 Penn Street has finished and the roadway is now open for traffic. The work is part of the Penn Square Redevelopment Project that will add new housing, shops and safe walkways downtown.  WFMZ-TV
