ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Fire crews from Lehigh Township and 10 other departments used over 200,000 gallons of water to fight a mulch fire that started Saturday morning in the 300 block of Cherryville Road—its flames may reach 20 feet deep as teams battle the blaze on a steep 60-degree slope amid heavy smoke and debris, prompting officials to consider using excavating equipment. - ➤ The Berks County sheriff’s office is seeking Jonathan Montilla-Diaz, 44, of the 800 block of Schuylkill Avenue in Reading—wanted for theft by deception, receiving stolen property, bad checks and insurance fraud—and Krista Norton, 40, of the 900 block of Meade Street in Williamsport who is charged with felony retail theft after stealing a $130 item in Cumru Township. - ➤ PennDOT is conducting road work in Berks County with construction planned along Route 422 and Route 100 in North Coventry. Additional projects in Tilden, Bern and Perry townships include brush cutting on Interstate 78 and Route 61, paving on Route 183 and sweeping on Route 61 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday—efforts aimed at improving road conditions.
