  • Van Scoy Jewelers in Wyomissing celebrates Women’s History Month with weekly Tuesday events that bring together local women-owned businesses (a network that fosters community empowerment).   • The TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a Make AI Work for You workshop at Montgomery County Community College in Pottstown to help business owners learn essential AI skills for tasks like content creation & customer management. CULTURE NEWS

  • A historic 1911 American LaFrance fire engine returned to its original home at South Fifth and Laurel streets and is now on display at the Reading Area Firefighters Museum. The museum raised funds through a GoFundMe campaign to secure the truck from auction and honor Reading's firefighting legacy.  WFMZ-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Exeter School Board selected community advocate Anne-Marie Grill — a longtime leader in youth development — Monday to fill a vacancy after Allison Wilson resigned in February. Grill, who directs Glad Tidings Kids Ministry and has raised five district children, will work with board members to support local students.  Reading Eagle
  • John Paul II Center for Special Learning has expanded its Transition Program to help students build job skills ahead of the Special Blends Café opening later this summer. Rene Berkhammer was promoted to Director of Transition and Dr. Andrea Swift joins as Transition Coordinator to support real world learning.  Berks Weekly
  • Nearly 300 students shared science projects at the 74th Reading-Berks Science and Engineering Fair held at Albright College's Bollman Gym, and five winners including grand champion William Ferenchick and champion Heidi Ding from Wilson High were honored at a ceremony.  Reading Eagle

HEALTH NEWS

  • Food vendors in Berks County underwent inspections between Feb. 18 and March 5, with reports noting some establishments had issues, including rodent droppings + improperly cleaned surfaces at one venue.   • José Lugo, a recovery coach at Recovery Coaching Services in Reading, shared his journey of overcoming substance use and stigma. He has been sober for 11 years and now leads community outreach, with a local mural celebrating his family and resilience.  Berks Weekly
