- ➤ Los Arrieros in West Reading is joining Restaurant Week for the first time and will serve special Colombian dishes for $25 or $40 & The American Diner offers breakfast, lunch and dinner specials. The event runs through Feb. 28. WFMZ-TV

- ➤ Muddy Creek Soap Company at 608 Penn Ave in West Reading is under new ownership — longtime fan Annette Debiec takes over from founder Beverly Kelly-Carfango, who will help during the transition before retiring. The store celebrated 10 years on Feb. 12 and plans to expand its natural product offerings. Reading Eagle
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Elizabeth Dawson hosted Black travelers in her Reading home from 1938 to 1966; her 441 Buttonwood St address was listed in the Negro Motorist Green Book and provided safe lodging during segregation. Her legacy remains a valued part of our local history. Reading Eagle
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Snow totals varied widely from Sunday into Monday – with amounts from 2 inches at Reading Regional Airport to 18 inches in Bucks County. The National Weather Service collected reports from several PA and New Jersey counties. Reading Eagle
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Reading recognized Black History Month with an official proclamation on Monday and lit City Hall and the Pagoda in red, yellow, and green — the Pan-African colors symbolizing unity and pride. Mayor Eddie Moran urged residents to learn and engage with the local legacy. Berks Weekly
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Berks County food safety inspectors detected several violations during inspections from Feb. 4 to Feb. 17. Reading, Kutztown, Wyomissing and other areas found issues such as improper temperatures, cleaning lapses and signs of rodent and insect activity, with many establishments correcting the issues promptly. REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Metropolitan Development Group presented plans on Monday night to build a 232-unit apartment complex at 3925 Perkiomen Ave. in Exeter Township. The project includes one- and two-bedroom apartments with a clubhouse, pool and pickleball courts, and ground work is expected to begin in about two years after reviews. WFMZ-TV

Good Thyme for Life Dining Week
Good Thyme For Life is an annual dining event in Berks County for Co-County Wellness Services, raising money for their mission of public health. This year’s event runs from March 2nd-8th and features 7 local restaurants each night, generously donating a portion of the evening revenue to support our work in education and advocacy.
