🎭 Culture
Vox Philia will host its annual Black History Month concert on Saturday, Feb.
28 at 4 p.m. at Immanuel UCC in Shillington, featuring regional choirs from Berks County (including Penn State Berks and Kutztown University). Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students.
🎓 Education
On Feb. 22, area colleges honored graduates from Commonwealth University and the University of Maryland Global Campus, and several students received Phi Kappa Phi memberships (including Emma Moody and Jared Maynard).
Penn State Berks professor Sadan Kulturel-Konak was elected Zone I chair for ASEE, marking standout academic success.
🏛️ Government
State Sen. Chris Gebhard announced that Berks County fire and EMS agencies have received over $1 million in state grants to upgrade equipment, complete training and improve facilities.
The funding will help local first responders better meet community needs and is sourced from slot machine gaming proceeds.
