  • Reading professionals can join events this week including a cybersecurity meetup on Thursday, Feb. 12 at GoggleWorks and a LinkedIn workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 18 via Zoom (online). EDUCATION NEWS

  • Graduates from PennWest’s California, Clarion and Edinboro campuses earned degrees last December; Fusion Fellow Riley Whiskeyman is making a conservation documentary and Emily Schaeffer joined Phi Kappa Phi at Kutztown. Alvernia University President Emeritus Dr. Thomas F. Flynn also received a service award for his work in Catholic higher education.  Reading Eagle

  • Berks County coroner’s office is asking for help to locate next of kin for 73-year-old Scott J. Lechki, who lived in New Tripoli and the Reading area; tips can be provided by calling 610-478-3280.  Reading Eagle

SPORTS NEWS

  • At Wilson High School and Roy G. Snyder Natatorium on Feb. 7, Schuylkill Valley’s Owen Eisenhofer broke records in the 200 medley (1:52.10) and 100 free while Wilson’s Kai Boyer set a county record in the 100 butterfly at the BCIAA Swimming and Diving Championships; Wilson won the team title.  Reading Eagle
  • Four top seeds advanced to the BCIAA girls basketball semifinals on Saturday with double-digit wins; Reading High beat Schuylkill Valley 58-44 and is set to face Wilson on Wednesday at Santander Arena—while Exeter and Gov. Mifflin will meet in the other semifinal game.  Reading Eagle
