- ➤ Renovations at the Olivet Boys and Girls Club on Mulberry Street have begun using $2 million in funding to update HVAC systems, flooring and plumbing. The club, which closed in 2023, is set to reopen by summer and will serve over 100 kids each day. WFMZ-TV
- ➤ GoggleWorks received new philanthropic gifts heading into 2026, including $150K from Rawden Joint Ventures and $150K from Customers Bank, to boost youth scholarships and creative learning programs in Reading - the center will also launch a new family art space and offer full scholarships for first responders’ children. - ➤ Carpenter Technology reported that its fiscal Q2 earnings beat projections by over 12.5% even as revenue slightly missed expectations, causing the stock to drop over 6% at 10 a.m. The company secured long-term aerospace agreements and raised full-year guidance, driven by record growth in its Specialty Alloys Operations segment. - ➤ Lebanon Valley College recognized 160 student-athletes on its Fall 2025 Academic Honor Roll, including nine former BCIAA athletes from Reading who are now pursuing degrees in fields such as history, marketing, and environmental science. Reading Eagle
- ➤ The Reading Science Center announced four new board members to boost its STEM programs. The new directors, including Megan Adukaitis and Udi Meirav, bring expertise in higher education, law, and business and will guide local STEM initiatives. Berks Weekly

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City officials announced that free parking in all city-owned garages is extended through Monday to aid snow removal while surface lots continue at regular rates. Snow crews are working diligently to clear streets for safer travel. Reading Eagle
- ➤ The Berks County Council on Chemical Abuse will receive nearly $283,000 from the state to expand recovery housing and support services for young adults (ages 18 to 24). The funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs is expected to boost long-term recovery efforts. Reading Eagle

- ➤ Wilson freshman Anna Abboud earned a spot on the U-16 national team after a three-day selection camp at (UNC) and will attend a training camp from Feb. 13-15 to try for a travel roster that will compete in tournaments in Valkenswaard and Tonbridge starting Mar. 30. Reading Eagle
- ➤ Berks Catholic advanced last Wednesday by beating Biglerville at York Tech and will face Bishop McDevitt for the District 3 Class 2A wrestling title Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Central York. Reading Eagle
- ➤ On Wednesday night, Daniel Moyer scored 30 points to help Wyomissing beat Hamburg 63-41. Exeter won 68-32 over Conrad Weiser and Brandywine Heights edged Tulpehocken 49-40. Reading Eagle
